About Marina Teding Van Berkhout

Marina is a Dutch Artist living in Plascassier, in the South of France. She had started her creative jouney in aquarelle but quite quickly moved on to oil paint and has never gone back. She attended workshops in England, the Netherlands, France and studied at the 'Académie of Beaux-Arts Anca-Sonia' in Grasse. She is absolutely passionate about painting faces, figures and flowers, slowly changing in style from very detailed to more and more loose.  ‘I found my voice when I discovered the Cold Wax Medium which allows me to make beautiful textured backgrounds using not only oil paints but pigments, pastels and oil sticks. It has given me far greater freedom to explore and experiment new ways of expressing myself through my art.

about the Workshop

Wax is an exciting medium to mix into your oil paints! In this workshop, you will learn all about the cold wax, how to incorporate this medium into your oil paintings. We will experiment with numerous methods to add texture, unique mark making and layering to your paintings. We will be using a variety of drawing materials like oil pastels, pigment sticks and fun tools including brayers, brushes, palette knives, scrapers and squeegees. We also discuss Color Theory and how to build up a painting, either abstract or figurative. I’ll show you all my favorite techniques that I have learned over the past years and you will leave with new exciting new techniques that can be further explored in your work!

(The workshop is organized with one day of pause since the oilpainting will need some drying.)
